Easy Holiday Party Hair Tips for the Gal On-the-Go!

Let's face it, you have a lot going on these days with work and friends or kids and volunteering commitments. All around, you have a lot to do. And somehow you have to squeeze having a blast at holiday parties into your schedule. Or rather, getting ready for the parties since there's always time to have fun. But there is no need to stress about what your hair will be doing at least with these easy holiday party hair tips that will definitely get you looking snazzy and out the door!

1. Keep it simple.
If you're running from work to the house to the party you don't want to have to worry about hopping around putting on your party clothes with a million bobby pins in your mouth, so keep your hair to a minimum and dazzle with accessories.

If you have long hair pull it into a low side bun or pin back one side with a glittery holiday clip and leave your tresses flowing. If you have medium length or long straight hair, shower in the morning and apply product or smoothing serum to your damp hair and pull back into a bun for a daytime style. When you're dressed and ready to go that night, pull your now dry hair out of the bun to release fun, sexy waves with almost  no effort. Spritz with hair spray to hold. If you have shorter hair or a bob, leave down and glam it up with a glitzy bow or  hairband. Holidays are all about over-the- top fun so go all out.

If you have super short pixie hair dab a little gel on your fingers and run it through dry hair to either spike it up in a fun faux-hawk or just woke up look. Or smooth it down and pin bangs to the side for sleek and sexy.

2. Look fresh on the fly.
You might want to take a shower, but if you want to get there and snag the best finger food appetizers, there might not be time. If you're in a rush try these on for size to stay looking clean.
  • If you don't have any dry shampoo, try blow drying your hair on cool to dry out any excess oil and fluff up flat locks.
  • A little hairspray can help hold hair in place, but it can also soak up oil and tame random flyaways left over from a day of work or driving around town.
  • Rubbing a little baby powder on your roots also helps dry out the hair line and add needed lift.
3. Be comfortable, yet creative.
The trick to looking your best and still having fun is to do something easy and comfortable while still looking like a million bucks. There is no need to try and pull off the up-do of the century (unless maybe you have a lot of time and you're a killer stylist) if you're just going to worry about it tumbling out of place all night.
  • As I've said, play with the accessories. They can make normal everyday hair into flirty holiday hair in no time at all. Glitter and sequins add shine and interest and dress up even the plainest hairstyle. Curled ribbon adds bounce and body while playing on the traditional holiday wrapping accessory.
  • Beauty, department, and even drug stores sell washable temporary hair color and hair chalk. Simply choose a holiday color and follow the directions provided to add a little flair. The darker your hair color the more difficult it may be for the color to show up. Check the packaging before buying to be sure.
  • When in doubt, stick to what you know works best for you. You don't want to try something new and daring an hour before going out only to realize that you turned your hair into an unmanageable rats nest or a strange new shade of magenta. If you're really worried about it, try playing with some styles or these tricks before the day of the party so you know what will and will not work for you.
Most importantly, out of all of this, remember to have a fabulous time and don't worry too much about what your hair ends up doing by the end of the night. You can always un-tag yourself from those pictures later.
